Fidelity Bank Field to open at McAdams Park

3/20/2023

Following approval from the Board of Park Commissioners and the Wichita City Council, the newest League 42 field at historic McAdams Park will be named Fidelity Bank Field.

Fidelity, along with a contribution from the Fidelity Bank Foundation, gifted $135,000 to help fund the Leslie Rudd Learning Center, also located at McAdams Park, which serves as the home of League 42. The center will provide players after-school tutoring and access to indoor baseball training.

"It’s an honor to play a small role in equipping our youth with educational resources while also instilling in them a love of America’s pastime," said Aaron Bastian, Fidelity Bank president and CEO. "League 42 is filling a vital need in our city."

Named in honor of baseball great Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play Major League Baseball, League 42 was founded in 2013 to provide children living in Wichita’s urban core a low-cost opportunity to play baseball.

"League 42 strives to do many things to boost children in our community and that is made possible by supporters like Fidelity Bank," said Bob Lutz, executive director of League 42, "Aaron Bastian and his group always have an eye for how to make our city better and their support of our initiative is very much appreciated."

Fidelity also partnered with the Wichita Wind Surge to donate $15,800 to League 42 through the Home Runs for Charity promotion during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Fidelity Bank Field is expected to be fully operational for the start of the League 42 season this spring.
